Emphycorp, Inc.

Emphycorp’s investigational new drug, N115, is currently starting Phase II studies.  N115 showed good bronchodilation activity in some of the end-points in the Phase I studies.  This was unexpected; N115 was (and is) expected to be a strong anti-inflammatory agent that will show strong efficacy in multi-dose studies due to control of any inflammation.  The dosing is by inhalation.

N115 has been granted Orphan Drug Status by the FDA for both Cystic Fibrosis and Interstitial Lung Disease

The use of this compound for this application is heavily patented.

Clinical studies currently underway include:

  1. 6 week, double blind, placebo controlled, study of COPD patients to investigate the longer-term anti-inflammatory effects

  1. A single dose study to measure blood oxygen saturation after dosing.  There is good scientific evidence that N115 could show increased oxygen saturation after inhalation

  1. A pilot investigation of the use of N115 to treat Cystic Fibosis

  1. A single-dose, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to confirm N115’s bronchodilation effects.
